A motorcyclist has been arrested for dangerous driving after attempting to provoke Gatineau, Que. police officers into a pursuit for social media footage, according to police. The Gatineau Police Service said on June 4, a man riding a motorcycle without a licence plate was riding beside a police cruiser “before performing a high-speed wheelie.” The investigation by officers uncovered “several videos” showing the motorcyclist performing similar maneuvers on the same motorcycle near other Gatineau police officers, police said. “The videos were subsequently posted on a popular social media platform specializing in video sharing,” police said on Thursday. Police say the investigation allowed police to identify the driver, and link “similar incidents” that occurred in the Sûreté du Québec territory. The 24-year-old man from the Papineau region of the Outaouais was arrested on July 7 and police seized the motorcycle involved in the alleged incidents.
