A 17-year-old driver learned an expensive lesson about passing vehicles on the shoulder on Highway 417 in Ottawa. Ontario Provincial Police Const. Michael Fathi says an officer stopped a motorcycle rider on Highway 417 near Parkdale Avenue on Thursday after they “passed an unmarked police cruiser while driving on the shoulder.” “The 17-year-old driver was issued a ticket for Pass - Off Roadway, a $110 fine and 3 demerit points upon conviction,” Fathi said.
