A 57-year-old man is facing charges in connection with a stabbing on Rideau Street in Ottawa. Emergency crews responded to a call for a man who boarded an OC Transpo bus in the area of Rideau Street and Friel Street just before 11 a.m. Wednesday with stab wounds. The Ottawa Police Service says the victim was on the sidewalk along Rideau Street when he was approached by an individual and stabbed in “what appears to have been an unprovoked attack.” The victim was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the suspect has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and carrying a concealed weapon.
