Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges in connection with a fatal boating incident on the St. Lawrence River earlier this year. A 41-year-old Ottawa man died after a 15-foot aluminum boat capsized on the river north of Grenadier Island on April 25. Several people were on the boat at the time, police said. The man was found unresponsive in the water and was pronounced dead in hospital. On Tuesday, the OPP said the investigation led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man from Mallorytown, who is now charged with criminal negligence causing death. Police said the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Leeds County OPP at 1‑888‑310‑1122.
