Kingston police say an employee of the Kingston Area Taxi Commission is facing multiple charges for allegedly obtaining more than $50,000 through fraud. In a news release, police said an investigation revealed an employee of the commission redirected funds for personal benefit “through unauthorized payments and false documentation.” Police say the employee also continued to receive a salary and benefits after their contract had ended. According to police, the individual, a 50-year-old resident of Kingston, was responsible for day-to-day operations and financial administration with the commission. Police say the accused fraudulently obtained approximately $50,112 from the Kingston Area Taxi Commission. The individual has been charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, forgery, uttering a forged document, altering documents to defraud and breach of trust by an official. The individual has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court.
