Ontario Provincial Police say a man from Kanata is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped on Highway 417 and allegedly blowing four times the legal limit on Thursday. According to a news release from OPP, police received a traffic complaint about a suspected impaired driver travelling west on Highway 417 near Pinecrest Road shortly before 4 p.m. After locating the vehicle and speaking with the driver, police used a roadside screening device and took the driver to the police station for further testing. Police say the driver tested more than four times over the legal blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 per cent. The 56-year-old man from Kanata is facing multiple charges, including operation while impaired and dangerous operation. The man was also issued a 90-day licence suspension and will appear before court at a later date. “The OPP would like to thank members of the public who continue to call in possible impaired drivers,” OPP wrote. “The OPP would also like to remind members of the public that with the long weekend starting, our officers will be very visible on the roads and will be conducting pro-active stops to check on sobriety. If you drink alcohol or consume drugs, don’t drive.”
