Acquiring certain items from IKEA will soon be easier than before for residents of Gatineau, as the Swedish furnishing giant will be opening a Plan and order point at 1100 Maloney Ouest Boulevard. According to a news release from IKEA Canada, the Gatineau Plan and order point will open in 2026. The location will not be a full store. Instead, customers will be able to meet with IKEA staff to design spaces, plan furnishing and order goods which can be delivered to residences or the 1100 Maloney Ouest Boulevard location. IKEA Canada says a limited selection of products will also be available to for immediate purchase at the Plan and order point. Food will be excluded. The Gatineau Plan and order point will be thirteenth location in the country, and Ikea Canada says they are designed to help reduce travel for customers. Ottawa is home to the largest IKEA in Canada, located at 2685 Iris Street, which is approximately 21 kilometres southwest of the planned Plan and order location.
