Firefighters responded to a hydro transformer explosion in Ottawa’s west end on Saturday. According to a statement from an Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson, a hydro transformer at 767 Silver Seven Road in Kanata “malfunctioned and exploded.” Firefighters say a small electrical fire was put out by the building’s sprinkler system. The building was de-energized by Hydro Ottawa and Enbridge Gas shut down its gas. Ottawa paramedics say they were not deployed to the scene of the fire. An Ottawa Fire Services investigator is investigating the incident.
