Ottawa motorists will want to fill up the gas tank tonight or on Tuesday before prices go up. Canadians for Affordable Energy president Dan McTeague tells CTV News Ottawa gas prices will increase six cents a litre in Ottawa and across Ontario on Wednesday to 169.9 cents a litre. Oil prices increased on Monday due to uncertainty about when the Strait of Hormuz could reopen. The September crude oil contract increased US$3.95 to $82.13 a barrel. The increase comes after prices dropped 10 cents a litre in Ottawa and across Ontario last Thursday amid reports of a peace deal between the United States and Iran. Gas prices hit a high of $1.96 a litre in the capital in May due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. McTeague says the price of diesel is expected to increase 12 cents on Wednesday to $2.21 a litre. With files from BNN Bloomberg
