Here are the winners in Ottawa ridings in the federal election

Voters in Ottawa ridings made their voices heard in the nation’s 45th election Monday evening.

The Liberals will form a minority government, CTV News projects, handing the party a fourth mandate during a time of economic uncertainty.

The Liberals have been elected in all nine ridings in Ottawa, with Liberal Bruce Fanjoy defeating Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre in Carleton.

Turnout in Ottawa ridings:

• Carleton : 81.6 per cent
• Kanata: 78 per cent
• Nepean: 77.5 per cent
• Orleans: 76.5 per cent
• Ottawa Centre: 77.5 per cent
• Ottawa South: 68.6 per cent
• Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester: 68.6 per cent
• Ottawa-West Nepean: 72.1 per cent
• Prescott-Russell-Cumberland: 74.5 per cent

Carleton

Liberal Party candidate Bruce Fanjoy has won the riding of Carleton, ending Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre’s nearly two-decade tenure as an MP in the Ottawa-area.

As of 4:43 a.m., preliminary results showed Fanjoy winning the riding with 50.6 per cent of the vote. Fanjoy received 42,374 votes, compared to 38,581 votes for Poilievre.

There were 91 candidates on the ballot in the riding. The riding of Carleton saw the highest voter turnout in the country during the four-day advance voting period over the Easter long weekend.

According to Elections Canada, 90 of 91 candidates on the ballot received a vote in the election.

Poilievre had represented the riding since 2004, winning the 2021 election with 50 per cent of the vote.

Kanata

Incumbent Liberal candidate and former cabinet minister Jenna Sudds was re-elected in the west Ottawa riding.

She defeats Conservative candidate Greg Kung and NDP candidate Melissa Simon. Sudds received 61 per cent of the vote in the riding of Kanata.

“I think we all realized how important this election felt. For our country, for our community and that’s why we got involved,” Sudds told supporters during her victory speech.

“Let’s be real, we have had a great night and a great success here, but the hard work starts now.”

Sudds has represented the riding of Kanata-Carleton since the 2021 federal election, which was renamed to Kanata for the 2025 election.

The Liberal Party has represented the riding since it was formed in 2015.

Nepean

Liberal leader Mark Carney was elected for the first time in the Ottawa riding of Nepean.

He defeats Conservative candidate Barbara Bal and NDP candidate Shyam Shukla. Carney received 64 per cent of the vote, compared to 33 per cent for Bal.

Liberal MP Chandra Arya represented the riding since 2015, but his nomination to run in Nepean was revoked.

Arya won the riding in 2021 with 46 per cent of the vote.

Orléans

Liberal incumbent candidate Marie-France Lalonde has been re-elected to a third term in the east Ottawa riding.

She defeats Conservative Steve Mansour and NDP candidate Oulai Goué. There were five other candidates on the ballot. Lalonde received 67 per cent of the vote.

Former Liberal MP and cabinet minister Andrew Leslie represented the riding of Orléans between 2015 and 2019. Conservative MP Royal Galipeau represented the riding between 2006 and 2015.

Ottawa Centre

Liberal incumbent candidate Yasir Naqvi was re-elected in Ottawa Centre, the home to Parliament Hill.

Naqvi defeats NDP candidate and former Ottawa Centre MPP Joel Harden. Harden had defeated Naqvi in the 2018 provincial election. Naqvi received 62 per cent of the vote.

The riding has flipped between the Liberals and the NDP since 1979.

Naqvi thanks Harden for his public service in his victory speech Monday evening.

“Our work starts now,” he said. “I will always stand up for Canada.”

Former Liberal cabinet minister Catherine McKenna represented the riding between 2015 and 2021. The late Paul Dewar represented the riding for the NDP between 2006 and 2015.

Ottawa South

Liberal incumbent David McGuinty has been re-elected in Ottawa South, a riding he has held since 2004.

The riding has been a consistently safe Liberal seat since it was created in the 1988 election. Former MP John Manley represented the riding from 1988 to 2004.

McGuinty defeats Conservative candidate Blair Turner and NDP candidate Hena Masjedee. McGuinty received 65 per cent of the vote.

“My voters here in Ottawa South are very concerned about the future of the country and they told me every single day at so many doors that they really believe that Canada is a country worth fighting for,” he told CTV News Ottawa’s Katelyn Wilson.

“They want to come together in a way I’ve never seen before. To fight for Canada and build an even better and stronger one.”

Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester

Incumbent candidate Liberal candidate Mona Fortier was re-elected for a fourth time. She has represented the riding since winning a byelection in 2017.

Fortier received 67 per cent of the vote, while Conservative candidate Dean Wythe received 21 per cent.

Liberals have held the seat since it was created as Ottawa East in 1935 and as Ottawa-Vanier in 1974. It was redistributed for the 2025 election as Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester, with part of the old boundary for Orléans shifted to include the community of Blackburn Hamlet.

Ottawa West-Nepean

Incumbent Liberal MP Anita Vandenbeld was re-elected for a fourth term in Ottawa West-Nepean.

She defeats Conservative candidate Ryan Telford and NDP candidate Josh Bizjak. There were three other candidates on the ballot. Vandenbeld received 63 per cent of the vote.

Former Conservative MP John Baird represented the riding between 2006 and 2015, before not seeking re-election. Liberal Marlene Catterall represented the riding between 1997 and 2006.

The riding of Ottawa-West Nepean stretches from the Ottawa River in the north to the Canadian National Railway/Nepean boundary in the south, and Fisher Avenue/Golden Avenue in the east and Highway 416/Moodie Drive in the west.

Prescott-Russell-Cumberland

Giovanna Mingarelli will keep the riding in Liberal hands.

Liberal MP Francis Drouin announced he was not seeking re-election after representing the riding between 2015 and 2025.

Mingarelli defeats Conservative candidate Julie Séguin and NDP candidate Ryder Finlay. There were three other candidates on the ballot. Mingarelli received 54 per cent of the vote.

Either a Conservative or a Liberal has represented the riding of Glengarry-Prescott and Glengarry-Prescott-Russell since 1953 when the riding was formed.

The riding boundaries were distributed this year to include a piece of Ottawa in the east end (Ramsayville/Mer Bleue/Carlsbad Springs), along with Clarence-Rockland, Hawkesbury, The Nation, Casselman and the townships of Alfred and Plantagenet, Champlain, East Hawkesbury and Russell.
