Ottawa residents will have to sweat through one more day of hot and humid weather before some relief arrives this weekend. It’s day four of the heat warning for Ottawa and eastern Ontario, with the temperature to hit 31 C today and the humidex making it feel like 39. “The hottest conditions are expected to continue through today, with maximum temperatures up to 32 degrees Celsius expected,” Environment Canada said. “Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high-risk category.” Environment Canada climatologist David Phillips said while the heat warning may end, “the heat continues.” “These temperatures are measured in the shade,” Phillips told CTV News Ottawa’s Peter Szperling. “You go out in that ByWard Market without any sun protection - a hat or a bonnet, my gosh you can add another five or six degrees of stress on the body from the sun.” The temperature warmed up to 33.1 C on Thursday, with the humidex making it feel like 42. It will be mainly sunny today with increasing cloudiness this afternoon. Environment Canada says there is a 40 per cent chance of showers this afternoon and the risk of a thunderstorm. High 31 C. The forecast calls for a partly cloudy night with a 40 per cent chance of showers this evening. Low 20 C. Saturday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers. High 28 C. A mix of sun and cloud is expected on Sunday. High 27 C. The outlook for Monday calls for a mix of sun and cloud. High 28 C. It will be mainly sunny on Tuesday. High 29 C. The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 26 C and a low of 15 C.
