A mother and daughter were rescued from the Ottawa River after being pulled by the current while paddleboarding. The Ottawa Fire Services say they received a 911 call reporting two paddleboarders struggling to return to shore just east of the Lac Deschênes Sailing Club at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday. The woman and 13-year-old girl were both wearing personal flotation devices, but the strong current and wind left them stranded out in the water. A water rescue team was sent to pull the pair from the river. They were safely back onshore shortly after 4:40 p.m. No injuries were reported.
