Federal public servants in Gatineau may need to find another space to work next week, as one of the co-working spaces in the national capital region closes its doors for good. The lease for the Gatineau GCcoworking site at 480 boulevard de la Cité is ending and the site is closing on Friday, June 12. A spokesperson for Public Services and Procurement Canada told CTV News Ottawa on March that the lease for the Gatineau GCcoworking site was ending and could not be renewed. The federal government currently runs 13 “GCcoworking” locations across Canada, with four in Ottawa and two in Gatineau, including the location on de la Cité. The coworking sites are open to federal employees in participating Government of Canada organizations, with each location IT-enabled and offering individual workstations and collaborative spaces. According to Public Services and Procurement Canada, more than 15,000 public servants across 50 federal departments and agents are registered for GCcoworking. The government has extended the GCcoworking initiative at the four locations in Ottawa and at Place du Portage in Gatineau until the fall.
