A 37-year-old man suspended from driving for four years is facing new charges after being stopped on an Ottawa road. The Ottawa Police Service’s Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit says the driver of a pickup truck was stopped in the area of Knoxdale Road and Woodroffe Avenue. Police say the driver had a criminal suspension for impaired driving since 2021. The driver was charged with driving while suspended and having no insurance, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days. “Outstanding work by our OPS Traffic Escort Unit earlier today…removing another high-risk driver from city streets,” police said. Drivers charged with stunt driving Three drivers were stopped for stunt driving on Highway 174 in Ottawa’s east end. Police say one driver was stopped going 142 km/h in the 80 km/h construction zone on the highway. “High speeds and construction zones are never a good mix,” police said on X. “(Monday), a member of the OPS Traffic Escort Unit was able to ‘pump-the-brakes on one driver.” Police also reported a motorcyclist was stopped going 140 km/h on Highway 174, and the driver of an SUV was observed going 145 km/h. The three drivers are charged with stunt driving, which includes a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.
