A 56-year-old Carleton Place woman is dead after she was struck by a passing vehicle following a crash on Highway 401 in Kingston. Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of a collision in the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 near the Division Street interchange around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the initial investigation shows the woman’s vehicle struck the concrete centre median of the highway. “The driver exited the vehicle and was subsequently struck by a passing vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene,” the OPP said in a media release. Highway 401 was closed for several hours for the investigation. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the Wednesday evening crash, to contact Frontenac OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
