The 19-year-old charged in the hit-and-run death of a Barrhaven crossing guard last month made another brief court appearance Tuesday morning. Xzander Wright appeared in person at the Ottawa Courthouse for a bail hearing and the case was adjourned until April 28, when he is expected to enter a plea. His lawyer told the court Wright is waiving his right to a bail hearing and will remain in custody until his next court appearance. Wright is charged with failure to stop after an accident-causing death after the crossing guard was struck by a vehicle at the corner of Cedarview Road and Kennevale Drive on March 23. Peter Clark, 55, died from his injuries in hospital. CTV News Ottawa reported last month that Wright is also facing an impaired driving charge in connection with an incident last July in Brockville. That matter is now scheduled to go to trial in December.
