A worker who was injured on Parliament Hill Friday morning had to be hoisted by a crane to a waiting ambulance, according to Ottawa paramedics. Public information officer Marc-Antoine Deschamps told CTV News Ottawa the worker suffered blunt force trauma at around 8 a.m. Friday, but the injuries are not considered life-threatening. The worker was in an area of the worksite that was difficult to access with a stretcher, so a paramedic and a firefighter attended on foot. They all got into a large metal box, and a crane operator hoisted the box out of the area in order to reach the ambulance, Deschamps said. The worker was assessed and taken to the hospital in stable condition. The incident happened at Centre Block, where a major, multi-year rehabilitation project is underway.
