Ontario Provincial Police say a Cornwall man is facing several charges after a traffic stop in Hawkesbury led to the seizure of a significant number of contraband cigarettes. According to police, officers stopped a driver on John Street in Hawkesbury at around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday and, during the investigation, found unmarked cigarettes in the car. A 33-year-old Cornwall man is charged with trafficking in contraband tobacco, possession of unmarked cigarettes for sale, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, and unlawful purchase of cannabis. The man is also charged with stunt driving, driving without a seatbelt, and driving with cannabis readily available. He’s due in court in September.
