It’s day four of the stretch of cool weather in Ottawa, with below-seasonal temperatures expected to continue through the weekend. The temperature warmed up to 12.9 C on Tuesday, eight degrees cooler than normal for this time of year. Environment Canada’s forecast calls for a high of 16 C today, and 11 C on Thursday and Friday. The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 21 C and a low of 9 C. It will be mainly cloudy today with a 40 per cent chance of showers. High 16 C. Cloudy tonight with a 40 per cent chance of evening showers. Rain beginning near midnight. Low 9 C. Periods of rain are expected on Thursday. High 11 C. Friday will be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers. High 11 C. The outlook for Saturday calls for cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers. High 13 C. Sunday will see a mix of sun and cloud. High 17 C. Ottawa River The rain in the forecast this week is expected to slow down the decrease in water levels along the Ottawa River. The Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board says flows are “declining gradually” along the main stem of the river. “Rainfall over the next (few) days is expected to slow down the decrease of levels and flows,” the planning board said in a statement. “Conditions at all locations along the main stem of the Ottawa River are expected to remain above average for this time of year over the coming week.”
