The City of Ottawa is seeing an increase in cash for hosting the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation announced the city received $2.7 million as a first quarter payment for hosting the casino on Albion Road. Last year, the city received $2.15 million for hosting the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa during the April-June period. Since the gaming site opened in February 2000, Ottawa has received $119.5 million. The city received $1.6 million for hosting Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa during the January-March period. “These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site,” OLG said. The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa opened its doors in July 2025, with an expanded casino featuring slots, live table games and a high-limit gaming area. “Revenues from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement help allow Ottawa to invest in infrastructure and provide funding for critical community services,” MPP George Darouze said. “Provincial revenues from Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa help to improve the quality of life for families across Carleton and across the City of Ottawa.”
