Ottawa paramedics say a boy was airlifted to CHEO following a two-vehicle crash in rural south Ottawa Friday morning. Paramedics were called to the intersection of Dalmeny Road and Nixon Drive, south of Osgoode, at around 7:30 a.m. for a collision between a sedan and a pickup truck. Ottawa paramedic public information officer Marc-Antoine Deschamps told CTV News Ottawa that the child was taken by Ornge air ambulance to CHEO in serious but stable condition. Three men were also seriously injured in the crash and were taken by land ambulance to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Deschamps said none of the injuries to the adults or to the child is considered life-threatening. Ottawa Fire Services public information officer Nick DeFazio said Ottawa firefighters were called to the scene to extricate people who were trapped in each vehicle. “Crews quickly stabilized both vehicles and began the extrication process using specialized hydraulic tools. At 7:49 a.m., Firefighters completed extrications on both vehicles, safely removing one patient from the pickup truck and two patients from the sedan,” DeFazio said in a post on X. Ottawa police closed Dalmeny Road between River Road and Gordon Murdock Road for the investigation. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
