A person is facing a charge of impaired driving after police responded to a call for an unconscious bulldozer operator at a City of Ottawa municipal yard in the west end. The Ottawa Police Service says at approximately 11:20 p.m. last Saturday, police responded to a call for an unconscious operator at a yard on Clyde Avenue. “The machine was secured to prevent movement while Ottawa Fire Services and Ottawa Paramedics assessed the operator,” police said on X. “The individual was transported to the hospital, and an impaired driving investigation was initiated.” A police spokesperson confirmed to CTV News Ottawa the yard was the City of Ottawa’s municipal yard on Clyde Avenue. Police say the operator has been charged with impaired operation. “Thank you to all emergency responders for their quick, coordinated actions in a dangerous situation,” police said. A City of Ottawa spokesperson told CTV News Ottawa the person charged was a contracted employee and was not a city employee and was not using a city vehicle.
