National War Memorial The National Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on Tuesday at the National War Memorial in downtown Ottawa. The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. with the Veterans’ Marching Contingent, and will conclude with the Veterans’ march-past at 11:30 a.m. CTV will broadcast the Remembrance Day ceremony live. The Royal Canadian Legion will also broadcast the ceremony its Facebook page. This year’s Silver Cross Mother is Nancy Payne. Her son, 32-year-old Corp. Randy Payne, was killed in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan in April 2006. Beechwood Cemetery Beechwood Cemetery will host its annual Remembrance Day Service on Tuesday, beginning at 10:45 a.m. Military members of the national capital region and their families are invited to the National Military Cemetery for the service. Barrhaven The Barrhaven Legion invites the public to a Remembrance Day ceremony on Tuesday at John McCrae Secondary School. The ceremony begins at 10:45 a.m. with the parade featuring the military, RCMP, police, veterans, and Legion members. John McCrae High School is located on Malvern Drive. Brantwood Place Gates The Montgomery Legion and 742 air cadets invite you to a Remembrance Day commemoration at Brantwood Place Gates on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The service is at Beckwith Road, at Main Street, in Old Ottawa East. Carp A Remembrance Day service will be held at the Carp-West Carleton War Memorial on Tuesday. The service begins at 11 a.m. at 462 Donald B. Munro Drive. Greely The public is invited to commemorate Remembrance Day with the Greely and District Legion. A Remembrance Day service begins at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at 8021 Mitch Owens Road in Greely. Kanata A Remembrance Day service will be held at the Kanata Cenotaph in the Village Green Memorial Park. The service begins at 10:53 a.m. on Tuesday. The Cenotaph is located at 2 Colchester Square, off of Campeau Drive. Kars A Remembrance Day service will be held in Kars at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The Cenotaph is located at 6692 Rideau Valley Drive South. Manotick The Manotick Legion hosts a Remembrance Day service on Tuesday in Manotick. The service will take place at the Cenotaph beside the Mill on Dickinson Street, according to the Royal Canadian Legion. The parade will depart the legion at 10:40 a.m. and the service will begin with O Canada at 10:56 a.m. Nepean Cenotaph The Royal Canadian Legion’s Bells Corners branch invites the public to a Remembrance Day Service in Nepean on Tuesday. The service at the Nepean Cenotaph at 110 Centrepointe Drive begins at 10:55 a.m. The parade marches off at 10:30 a.m. from Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School. North Gower The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 314 Manotick hosts a Remembrance Day service on Sunday in North Gower at 1 p.m. The service will be held at 2345 Perkins Drive. Orléans The Royal Canadian Legion 632 in Orléans hosts a Remembrance Day ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The service begins at 10:40 a.m. with the parade. The service will be held at 800 Taylor Creek Drive. Richmond The Remembrance Day service in Richmond will be held at the Richmond Memorial Park at 6127 Perth Street on Tuesday. The service, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion’s Richmond and District Branch, begins at 10:50 a.m. Stittsville The Stittsville Legion hosts a Remembrance Day service on Tuesday at the Cenotaph in Alexander Grove Park. The service begins at 2 p.m. The Cenotaph is located on Stittsville Main Street. Woodlawn A Remembrance Day service will be held on Saturday in Woodlawn. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 616 West Carleton will host the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Museums For information on each museum in Ottawa and Gatineau, click on the websites. Canadian Museum of History The Canadian War Museum invites you to learn more about Canada’s military history during Remembrance Week. The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Admission is free. On Remembrance Day, visit the museum’s webpage to watch the light shining through Memorial Hall at the Canadian War Museum. At exactly 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, sunlight enters through a single window in Memorial Hall, illuminating the headstone of Canada’s Unknown Soldier.
