$75,000 reward offered for information in unsolved homicide in Metcalfe last year

A $75,000 reward is being offered for information in the fatal stabbing of Roger Dale Lusk in Ottawa’s south end one year ago.

The Ottawa Police Service announced the reward offer for information leading to an arrest of the person responsible for the fatal stabbing of Lusk on the one-year anniversary of the incident.

“On September 23, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Mr. Lusk was driving his pickup truck and left his residence on Ira Morgan Way in Metcalfe,” the Ottawa Police Service said in a media release.

“A short distance away, he pulled over and interacted with a light grey or silver sedan. During this interaction, the front passenger of the sedan entered Mr. Lusk’s vehicle and stabbed him. The suspect then fled the scene in the same sedan.”

Police say a neighbour located the 66-year-old man a short time later and called 9-1-1. Lusk died in hospital from his injuries on Oct. 5, 2024.

The Ottawa Police Service’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate.

“Investigators believe there were at least two individuals in the suspect vehicle at the time of the attack,” police said on Tuesday.

“Surveillance footage and images of the suspect vehicle were released last year in an effort to generate tips from the public.”

In October 2024, police released a video and photos of a light-grey or silver four-door car as part of the investigation.

Sgt. Chris O’Brien says Lusk was the victim of a “targeted and violent attack just minutes from his home.”

“If you recognize this vehicle or have any information, we urge you to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help us identify those responsible,” O’Brien said in a video released by the Ottawa Police Service.

“Mr. Lusk was a devoted father and husband. His family is devastated, and they deserve answers.”
