Two teenagers, ages 16 and 17, are facing charges after police discovered a firearm and drugs in a vehicle in Ottawa. The Ottawa Police Service says officers with the Vanier/Overbrook Neighbourhood Resource Team stopped a vehicle on Monday in the area of McArthur Avenue and Rue de L’Eglise. “During the search of the vehicle under the Cannabis Control Act, officers discovered a firearm,” police said in a media release. “Both occupants of the vehicle, males, aged 16 and 17, were immediately arrested. After their arrest, a significant quantity of crack cocaine was located on one of the suspects.” Police say the two teens are facing multiple firearm and drug-related charges and “failing to comply with previously imposed Youth Criminal Justice Act conditions.” The names of the teens cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
