Sudbury algae blooms pose toxic threat to people, pets
With more than 300 lakes in Greater Sudbury, forecasting toxic blue-green algae blooms is nearly impossible. Health officials say blooms can appear overnight—so it's best to know the warning signs as the scum layers contain harmful toxins that cause skin irritation, headaches and GI illnesses. Authorities say to report blooms immediately.
