The small northern Ontario town of Fauquier-Strickland, northwest of Timmins, has drafted an 80% property tax hike to address a $2.5 million deficit. The province required the draft to release $300,000 in emergency funds to the municipality. The mayor says the town council will now have to determine the actual final increase this week.
