North Bay Coun. Jamie Lowery is proposing an independent audit of Mayor Peter Chirico’s expenses after an internal review found $16,000 in personal charges on a city credit card. Chirico says all monies have been repaid and denies wrongdoing. He has requested an integrity probe. Lowery's motion also calls for Chirico's temporary removal from the police board until the audit concludes. A separate proposal would require quarterly online expense reports for council.
