Two men face drug trafficking charges following a vehicle stop last month on Government Road East in Kirkland Lake. Ontario Provincial Police say they stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence at 12:40 p.m. on April 19. Traffic stop leads to arrest “Upon speaking with the occupants, police formed grounds to arrest the driver and passenger for drug trafficking,” said OPP in a news release. “A search of the persons incident to arrest resulted in the seizure of approximately 94.53 grams of suspected cocaine.” Police estimated the street value of the seized drugs at $9,453. OPP said officers also seized $630 in cash. As a result, a 29-year-old man from Etobicoke and a 55-year-old local man have each been charged with drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. The Etobicoke man remains in custody. Both men are scheduled to appear in court in Kirkland Lake on June 4.
