A 59-year-old suspect has been charged with intimate partner violence, among other offences, following an incident early Friday morning in East Ferris. Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene around 12:10 a.m. on June 12, along with paramedics, where they found the victim with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to hospital. “Police learned that an individual assaulted their intimate partner before fleeing the scene in a pickup truck,” police said. Fled in truck, crashed into vehicle “The vehicle was later involved in a collision with a stationary vehicle.” The suspect in the case has been charged with spousal assault with a weapon, two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, and one count each of impaired driving, dangerous driving, refusing to comply with a demand, aggravated assault, weapons possession, unlawfully being in a dwelling house and mischief over $5,000. The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay later on Friday. The suspect’s driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the truck has been impounded for a week.
