Police in Thunder Bay have charged a man with carrying a concealed weapon after officers say they saw a man attempting to gain access to a locked vehicle. According to police, officers were on patrol in the Machar Avenue area on Sept. 18 when the incident occurred. The Thunder Bay Police Service said in a news release that the suspect fled after officers made initial contact but was later charged after a brief chase. A search of the suspect led to the seizure of stolen items. As a result, a 25-year-old local man faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. The accused was remanded into custody following his first court appearance.
