The Federal Economic Development Agency for northern Ontario is providing funding to help create and maintain more than 1,200 jobs through business expansion, community growth and economic activity. Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and the minister responsible for FedNor, announced Tuesday more than $20 million will be used for 22 projects across northern Ontario. “By providing critical support to Canadians across the country, we are helping business and community partners adapt to rapidly evolving social and economic realities,” said Hajdu. “Here at home, this means making life better for entrepreneurs, business, families and individuals living and working in our region.” “I am thrilled that FedNor recognizes our record of success in fostering community, business and economic growth, while helping businesses start up and scale up here at home in Thunder Bay and across northern Ontario,” said Carole Long, Thunder Bay Ventures. While the funds are provided through three FedNor programs, the community futures program will support operations in the north with close to $16 million.
