Man wielded knife at victim: Sault police

A 46-year-old man in Sault Ste. Marie is facing assault charges after what police called “an altercation” involving a knife.

Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of McKenzie Avenue shortly after 9:45 p.m. on June 4, following a 911 call reporting the incident.

Accused, victim known to each other

“An investigation revealed the accused physically assaulted a victim who is known to them – causing minor physical injuries – and wielded a knife in their direction,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release.

Police said the man was arrested at the scene.

The accused has been charged with assault and assault with a weapon.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
