The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police hosted a presentation for a $100,000 donation made to the OPP Youth Foundation. The donation was presented on Oct. 8 by Cheryl and David Andrews from the estate of their late uncle, Frank Richman. They were joined by the foundation’s executive director Sandy Poredos and several OPP officials – including Superintendent Mike Maville from the North East Region Headquarters, Staff Sgt. Helena Wall, Sgt. Shelley Van Erp and Const. Brandon Charlebois of the West Parry Sound OPP. Cheryl described her uncle as a lifelong educator and credited him with helping her fall in love with the Parry Sound area as a teenager. Cheryl said that Richman’s final wishes were to see his money used helping others. Supporting disadvantaged youth The significant endowment is earmarked for the foundation’s programs aimed at supporting young people across the province. “This generous donation will help continue our work with disadvantaged youth to reach their highest potential in the communities we serve in the province of Ontario,” said Poredos.
