‘Highway was completely blocked’: 3-vehicle crash scatters logs across northern Ont. road

Provincial police have released images of a logging truck that spilled its load across Highway 63 this week, closing the road for several hours.

This story has been corrected to show that police haven't said which commercial motor vehicle crossed the centre line. — Minor injuries were reported Wednesday afternoon when a heavy truck hauling logs collided with two other vehicles on Highway 63 northeast of North Bay, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police said one commercial motor vehicle crossed the centre line, striking another commercial motor vehicle before crashing into a passenger vehicle.

“The highway was completely blocked as logs were scattered across the roadway,” police said.

“One individual sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital.”

A 60-year-old driver from Frankford was charged with careless driving.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of emergency services, towing companies and MTO, the highway was safely reopened at 9:15 pm.,” police said.

“We appreciate the public’s patience during the extended closure and remind all drivers to stay alert and drive safe.”
