The City of Greater Sudbury says it is aware of reports of scam phone calls from individuals claiming to represent the Sudbury Firefighters Association and asking for donations for burn units and other causes. “Please note that the Sudbury Firefighters Association will never call residents asking for donations and will never go door-to-door collecting money,” said Greater Sudbury Fire Services in a recent social media post. How to protect yourself The fire service offered residents a list of tips to help protect themselves from scams: Residents urged to stay alert “If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts, hang up and verify the information through a trusted source,” said Greater Sudbury Fire Services. Fire officials also encouraged residents to share the information with friends, family and neighbours.
