High school students at École Secondaire Catholique Thériault in Timmins collected food and cash donations Oct. 31 as part of Projet Amour Communautaire.

Dozens of students and parents took part in support of the Timmins and Porcupine Food Banks, Angèle Bastien-Huot, Projet Amour Angèle Bastien-Huot, who leads Projet Amour Communautaire, said in a news release Thursday.

“18 pallets of non-perishable food and more than $4,200 were collected at various grocery stores in Timmins and South Porcupine to help those in need,” said Bastien-Huot.

“Thanks to the generosity of our community and the incredible commitment of our students and parents, this first community initiative as a group was an outstanding success.”

“Projet Amour Communautaire aims to encourage students to embrace the values of compassion, volunteerism, and community involvement,” said Bastien-Huot.

“We want them to understand that small acts of kindness, when brought together, can make a huge difference.”
