North Bay fire and emergency services is advising the public of a phone scam in which a caller falsely claims to represent them and asks for payment for an outstanding invoice. “Neither the City of North Bay nor North Bay fire and emergency services typically request payment by phone, and any calls of this nature should be treated as suspicious,” officials said in a news release May 15. “Residents are advised not to provide personal or financial information unless the caller has been verified.” Anyone who receives such a call is urged to hang up right away and contact the city. Residents with questions about services or outstanding payments can call 705-474-0626, ext. 4855. “The North Bay Police Service has been advised,” the release said.
