— A Canadian military road move from Petawawa to Sudbury will be conducted over two days beginning Tuesday in what national defence calls exercise Lethal Bear 26. Residents will see small packets of 50 military vehicles on Highway 17, including light armoured, light and medium support and recovery vehicles, National Defence said in a news release Oct. 23. “During the road move, soldiers will conduct short halts next to the Two Rivers motel in Mattawa and at the truck pullout to the west of the community of West Nipissing,” said Capt. Helen Hawes “There will also be a long halt at the Bay truck stop in North Bay.” Training beyond military bases allows soldiers to experience challenges they may encounter during real-world operations, National Defence said. The exercise will conclude Wednesday in Petawawa.
