Sault Ste. Marie-based Thrive Child Development Centre came up big winners after a recent fundraising golf tournament Aug.20. A cheque for $65,000 was presented to the foundation on Oct. 5 to support children and families following the 11th annual Soo Mill charity golf classic co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie. “The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie is grateful for the community’s continued support,” said golf committee member Dan Sharp. “We look forward to an even better event next year to be held on Aug. 19, 2027.” Soo Mill has now been the title sponsor for five years and organizers said the company has played a central role in the event’s growth. “We’ve lasted more than 111 years because this community has supported us and we’ve always believed in giving that back,” said Jami DellaVedova, Soo Mill co-president. “We look for causes that make a direct, local difference in people’s lives and Thrive fits that perfectly.” The Thrive Child Development Centre provides child development and rehabilitation services to children and families in the region.
