Ontario Provincial Police say a Bonfield driver faces multiple charges after striking a municipal worker with a pickup truck and failing to remain at the scene of the incident on July 24. Officers responded to a report that a municipal worker had been struck by a vehicle on Laurier Street in Bonfield. The driver allegedly failed to remain at the scene following the collision and the worker sustained minor injuries, police said in a news release Monday. “At the time of the collision, the victim was performing road construction work. Police identified the suspect vehicle and located the driver who was arrested a short time later at a nearby property,” police said. A 62-year-old Bonfield resident has been charged with failing to remain, careless driving, failing to report an accident and driving without insurance. Police also seized the vehicle as part its investigation. The accused is set to appear in a North Bay court at a later date.
