Rock/pop music fans will be at Sudbury’s Bell Park on Wednesday evening when Canada’s Glass Tiger hits the stage. While the Newmarket based group has been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame in Toronto, original keyboardist Sam Reid said Tuesday the guys are just grateful for the opportunity to play the hits decades later. “After 40-plus years still to be with out band of brothers on the road still singing songs and getting the fans to sing along. And, we’re booking shows well into 2028, so it doesn’t look like any reason to not to do that. if we all stay healthy and we’re still having a great time, then we’re delighted to still be out here and perform the way we do.” While fans of the group are older, Reid said there’s a second crop of fans that you look into the audience to experience the music firsthand. “You couldn’t possibly have been there in 86, and we’re okay if somebody says listen, I discovered Glass Tiger because my mom and dad listened to you guys in the house and I grew up with it.” Streaming numbers for Glass Tiger are impressive. ‘Don’t Forget Me When I’m Gone’ has hit 32-million on Apple Music. With six studio albums and 5-million in album sales, Reid was asked about the group’s timeline for the future. “As long as we’re still enjoying it in the next 3-5 years, as long as lead singer Alan Frew still feels strong singing wise, so as long as we can keep it at that high level and the Rolling Stones and McCartney don’t come off the road, then I don’t see any reason why we have to.” Coming off a performance at the CNE Tuesday, Glass Tiger headlines several local singers and groups tonight beginning at 6 p.m.
