KELOWNA, B.C. - A Mountie in Kelowna, B.C., has been suspended with pay pending an investigation involving a man who was kicked in the face.

Last Friday's incident was caught on video by a witness and posted on YouTube.

It shows 51-year-old Buddy Tavares on his hands and knees outside a pickup truck when an officer approaches and kicks him, leaving him with a bloody head.

Tavares was stopped after someone fired a shotgun on the grounds of a local golf club, although on one was hurt.

Abbotsford police have been called in to head the criminal investigation into the actions of the Mountie, who also faces an RCMP internal code of conduct probe.

Tavares has been charged with careless use of a firearm in the shooting and released on bail.
