The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) says it has arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that took place more than four years ago in the Beauce region. Étienne Gourde is expected to be charged with the first-degree murder of Nicolas Audet at his home on Feb. 14, 2022, in Saint-Isidore. In a press release, the force stated that the 29-year-old suspect was arrested at his home in Saint-Bernard. He is set to appear in court on Wednesday via videoconference at the Quebec City courthouse. According to Lieutenant Jennifer Chez, head of the Sûreté du Québec’s (SQ) crimes against the person investigation division, “the man arrested had been a target for some time, and the investigators’ hard work has paid off.” “This arrest follows a lengthy investigation, which involved various methods and techniques,” she added. “Today’s announcement demonstrates that the SQ spares no effort in solving crimes for which families and loved ones are hoping for a resolution.” The SQ did not specify what led to the breakthrough in the investigation, but noted that several units were involved and acknowledged the public’s assistance.
