A restaurant in Dollard-des-Ormeaux (DDO), on Montreal’s West Island, was targeted by an alleged arson attack early Monday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 2:30 a.m. about an alarm going off at a business on des Sources and Brunswick boulevards. “When the police arrived at the scene, the Montreal fire department was already [getting] a fire in the restaurant under control,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. She added that incendiary materials were found at the scene. “According to the initial reports, one or more suspects would have smashed a window to the restaurant to set the fire inside, and then fled before the arrival of police,” said Chèvrefils. “Damage to the building is important.” There were no reported injuries, and there have been no arrests. The file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.
