The month of May marks Asian Heritage Month, a time to learn, share and explore Canada's historic and diverse Asian community, while acknowledging its members' many achievements and contributions.
May was officially designated Asian Heritage Month in 2001 when the Canadian Senate adopted a motion proposed by Senator Vivienne Poy. The official declaration was signed by the Government of Canada in May 2002.
