A man in his 30s drowned on Sunday at Rivière-du-Moulin Park in Saguenay. It’s the second drowning in as many days in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. The man was standing on a rock, presumably fishing, when he fell. It had rained earlier, making the rocks slippery. According to information obtained by Noovo Info, the man did not appear to know how to swim. Officials also said he was not wearing a life jacket. Authorities began searching for him around 7 p.m. on Sunday. The search was temporarily suspended around midnight and resumed around 8 a.m. on Monday morning. The strong current and the river’s flow forced rescue teams to expand their search area. Divers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) recovered the man’s body at about 10 a.m. A coroner’s investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
