Olymel-brand chicken breast strips are being recalled in Quebec due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the units affected include chicken breast strips in size 2 x 175g, with UPC 0 69094 63596 3 and best before Oct. 10, 2026. People are being warned not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled products. “Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased,” the CFIA states. “If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your health care provider.” The agency notes that food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes “may not look or smell spoiled” but can still make you sick. “Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness,” the CFIA said. “Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.” Though pregnant women may experience mild, flu-like symptoms, the agency warns that the infection can lead to “premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth.” In severe cases, the illness may also cause death.
