“Grondines” cheese sold by Le Marché des saveurs du Québec in Jean-Talon Market is being recalled due to the potential presence of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ). The product affected includes “grondines” cheese of all sizes sold from July 3 to 15, 2026. “The product covered by this warning was offered for sale exclusively at the establishment named above,” the ministry notes. “The product was sold at the service counter and sliced on request by a member of staff.” The warning is being issued as a precautionary measure. “Anyone in possession of one of these products is advised not to consume it,” MAPAQ warns. “Even if the affected products show no signs of spoilage or suspicious odour, consuming them may pose a health risk.” Symptoms of staphylococcal food poisoning include sudden-onset nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, cramps and diarrhea, usually appearing between 30 minutes and eight hours after consuming the contaminated food and subsiding within 24 hours. “If symptoms related to the consumption of a product develop, it is advisable to consult a health care professional,” the ministry notes. There have been no reported cases of illness associated with the recall.
