Next stop, Sans-Coeur station: Montreal metro stations renamed for Valentine’s Day

In the cheekiest of Montreal metro line moves on Valentine’s Day, the public transit authority (STM) has posted alternate metro station names for the broken-hearted, cynical and forelorn as well as the gushy, romantic and bliss-filled souls of the city.

Staff at the STM had some fun with Photoshop and renamed stations in posts on its social media.

NOTE: The actual station names remain the same in real life.

Next stop, the broken-hearted

“Next station: The No Valentine’s Club,” is the place for “anyone who is broken-hearted, free, or just plain uncomfortable with Feb. 14. Happy Valentine’s Day and welcome aboard!”

Station “Jean-Drapeau-Rouge” (Jean-Drapeau) is for those who knew “all the signs were there, even though you wanted so badly to believe.”

Other stations include “Villa-Divorça” (Villa-Maria), “Georges-Va-Annuler” (Georges-Vanier) and “Acadit-Non” (Acadie).

“Life clearly had other plans for you. As they say, one day at a time—or rather, in this case, one metro ride at a time."

There are the stations for the broken-hearted: “Sans-Coeur” (Jolicoeur) and “Monkeur-Brisé” (Monk).

“Are you a romantic at heart, and has someone heartless broken yours? Come here, where the sun will soon return to light up your Jolicoeur.”

“Your heart may have been broken by Pic and Pelle (art joke in the metro for 38 people), but at least your OPUS card is still intact.”

There are also the stations with encouragement singles, such as “D’Ibervide” (D’Iberville), “MoiMorenSeul” (Montmorency), or Sans-Michel (St-Michel).

“The conversation was empty, and so was the relationship. In cases like this, it’s better to be alone than in bad company.”

“You tell yourself: that’s it, without Michel, this is the end of love. It may take a few years, but we promise you it’s worth continuing to dig. Soon you’ll go further than ever before.”

Stop, fill your heart

For those heading home with a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates and a chest thumping with romance and magic, the STM has 10 romantic destinations.

“Jarry-Va-A-Ma-Date” (Jarry), “Namour” (Namur), “Acadit-Oui” (Acadie) and “Villa-Marriage” (Villa-Maria) are some of the clever alternate monikers from the STM, although one commenter asked why “Hot Guy-Concordia” was not.

“Jolicoeur was the station near my father’s work, and as a child I thought it had been named after a teddy bear,” said one commenter.
